About UsSATYAM, (pronounced "sutyum") is a combination of two words from Sanskrit, the ancient language of India. "SAT" meaning' truth or the true essence' and "YAM" 'to sustain or support'. YAM is also a seed sound or 'bija' and heals both the physical heart and the emotional heart centre, opening oneself up to unconditional love and compassion.
At SATYAM we offer yoga and movement classes influenced by classical and modern yogic practices coupled with a thorough anatomical understanding and a sound personal practice of more than 2 decades. SATYAM grew out of a lifetime of dancing, moving, stretching, working out and working in. SATYAM was founded by Jessica Devi but inspired by many teachers, students, colleagues and healers from New Zealand and around the globe.

At SATYAM it is our intention to seek out, study and practice both traditional and modern yoga and movement practices which are sustainable, authentic and therapeutic in nature. We draw from these practices to create both group and individual classes/sessions in which the emphasis is on listening to our inner wisdom, nourishing our bodies and minds and creating long term, life-sustaining, change, growth and development.
